The substrate chooses the fastener
Segment A. Concrete, wood, sheet steel or a structural flange. That fixes the fastener callout and the attachment capacity.

The mounting chooses the option
Segment B. The 90 deg foot loads the fastener in tension from below; the sidemount foot loads it in shear from the side of a beam or joist.
